| Retrogressionn Reaging of Aluminum | | | | National Research Council of Canada (NRCC) and the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), using Zimac hot bonding equipment, have successfully demonstrated Retrogression Re-Aging of Al-7075 -T6 on large castings on C-141 and the C-130 sloping Longeron to protect against Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC). Work has shown that heat can be isolated and the in-situ process has been proven on the C-130, thus removing high cost of a new part, disassembly and re-assembly. Real Time Kinetics Modeling is used to control the heat process. A hot bonder can be more than just a dual or single zone heat controller. | | | |
